    Evaluator questions, answered

    What is LicenseFortress?

LicenseFortress is an independent enterprise software licensing advisory. We establish what organizations own, what they have deployed, and what publishers can legitimately claim — then defend that position through audits, renewals, migrations, and transactions. Licensing analysts and licensing counsel work every engagement together, supported by the ArxPlatform® compliance monitoring platform.

Which services and publishers does LicenseFortress support?

Audit defense, Compliance & Optimization Reviews, licence optimization, contract and renewal negotiation, Oracle ULA management and certification, ELA management, SAM managed services, FinOps and cloud licensing, and AI licensing governance — across Oracle (including Java), Microsoft, IBM, VMware by Broadcom, SAP, Adobe, and Red Hat.

    Where does LicenseFortress operate?

LicenseFortress serves clients in more than 30 countries across four regions, working with a partner network of 25+ organizations. Engagements are delivered remotely with on-site support arranged where an audit or negotiation requires it.

    How does implementation work?

    1. Planning — scope, communication protocol, responsibilities, and security requirements are agreed.
    2. Data collection — agreements and entitlements are gathered, missing paperwork is recovered, and ArxAware performs read-only discovery of deployments.
    3. Validation — entitlements are compiled, architecture including HA/DR is analysed, and contract terms are verified with counsel.
    4. Results — findings are shaped into an Effective Licence Position with quantified exposure and savings.
    5. Action — the position is used to defend an audit, negotiate a renewal, or drive remediation, with LicenseFortress managing publisher correspondence.

What deployment models does ArxPlatform® support?

ArxPlatform® is delivered as a hosted service. Discovery is performed by ArxAware using read-only access inside the customer environment, covering physical, virtual, container, and cloud estates. No agent is required to hold write access, and no customer data is shared with software publishers.

What security credentials does LicenseFortress hold?

LicenseFortress operates SOC 2 audited controls. Discovery is read-only, data handling is scoped per engagement, and customer environment data is never provided to a publisher without explicit written direction from the customer.

    Is legal counsel included?

Yes, where the engagement requires it. Contract interpretation, audit correspondence, and settlement language are handled with licensing counsel involved, which is what allows findings to be challenged on contractual rather than only technical grounds.

    Does LicenseFortress resell software?

No. LicenseFortress holds no reseller agreement, publisher quota, or margin on any software purchase. Resellers and publisher-affiliated providers are compensated on what you buy; our compensation does not change based on your purchasing decisions.

    What makes ArxProtect® different?

ArxProtect® is a SAM managed service backed by a financial guarantee. Continuous monitoring through ArxPlatform® is combined with expert review, and if an audit surfaces a gap our analysis should have caught, LicenseFortress covers the cost. Advisory firms without a guarantee carry no financial consequence for missing something.

What measurable results has LicenseFortress produced?

$2.4B+ in vendor audit claims defended, $625M+ in client savings, and zero software audit disputes lost. Individual outcomes include an Oracle ULA certification that capped $14M in exposure and a $750K Oracle audit claim settled for $0. Customer satisfaction is independently measured at an 83.3% NPS (ClearlyRated certified).

    How are engagements priced?

Project engagements are scoped and quoted as fixed fees based on publisher count and environment complexity. Managed services (ArxSecure®, ArxProtect®) are annual subscriptions. LicenseFortress does not price on a share of savings recovered, which keeps recommendations independent of transaction size.

    How quickly can LicenseFortress mobilize?

Response to a live audit notice starts within days. Compliance reviews typically run 4 to 8 weeks per publisher, audit defense 8 to 16 weeks through to close letter, and managed-service onboarding 4 to 8 weeks.
